Desikan has a diverse experience in the area of clean energy catalysis R&D. He is working on developing cost-effective emission control technology for various HAPs, researching pathways to harness clean energy from solid waste, and also developing sustainable technologies to mitigate GHG and VOC emissions. Desikan obtained his PhD in 2009, and is an inventor of two US patent pending technologies.
